The
Manning Plaza was built in 1966 to provide both intermediate and residential
care to area residents as they approached their twilight years. As time went by,
the focus was changed to intermediate care only.
Residents desired to remain in
their own homes longer resulting in the loss of need for residential care. In
the late 1970's the neighboring Manning General Hospital and the Manning Plaza
joined and are known today as Manning Regional Healthcare Center.
An integral part of Manning
Regional Healthcare Center, the Plaza is a 56-bed long-term care facility. It
offers 24-hour nursing care and specialized dietary service. The Plaza also
offers recreational programs, rehabilitative services, and social services.
Plaza residents have direct access to acute care and specialty services at
Manning Regional Healthcare Center.
The Manning Plaza has a
philosophy of Keeping the Elderly on the “Main Street” of the Community.
The residents at Manning Plaza have the privilege of being located right on
Main Street in Manning where they can remain involved in the happenings of the
community.
The residents have easy
access to all the specialists that have outpatient clinics at the Manning
Regional Healthcare Center. Just a wheelchair ride or walk down the corridor
takes them to their appointments. An eye doctor and dentist are also available
only a few blocks down the street where in good weather a walk or wheelchair
ride can get them to these appointments. The Manning Plaza staff also
coordinates with the local transit van to get Residents to other appointments
(in Denison and Carroll) if the family is unable to take them. The expense of
the van trips is the responsibility of the Resident or their family.
The Activities Department at
the Manning Plaza keep the residents very involved. When the residents aren't
busy with the day's planned activities, they can enjoy spending time watching
the birds in our aviary or visiting with Sassy, the Plaza's cat. There are also
a number of trips outside of the facility that the residents can participate in
if able. You can enjoy seeing some of the Plaza activities by clicking here.
Our Care Center has a
tradition of providing quality care to residents who need personal assistance,
rehabilitation services, or other special nursing services. These services are
provided in an atmosphere of dignity and respect by our highly qualified nursing
staff. The Manning Plaza will not discriminate based on race, color, age, sex,
creed, national origin, or disability.
We love to have friends and
relatives come to share a meal with our residents. If you would like to join us,
please make arrangements at the nurses' station. Charges for guest meals shall
be paid at the Business Office or may be added to the Resident's bill if the
Resident so chooses. Guest meals are charged at $3.75. Meal times are as
follows: breakfast at 7:30 a.m., lunch at 11:45 a.m., and dinner at 5:15 p.m.
You can also choose to have lunch with the resident in Manning Regional
Healthcare Center's cafeteria. This is located in the basement of the Plaza and
guests are served cafeteria style. There is a salad and dessert bar, along with
several meal items to choose from. Meal charges are based on the food items
chosen. |
