About
us
The
Manning Family Recovery Center (MFRC) at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center
was established in December 1982. The Recovery Center’s mission is to provide
safe, efficient, and effective chemical dependency treatment to chemically
dependent individuals and their families across Iowa and Nebraska. This
treatment is provided by a caring, empathetic staff who believes your life can
change with treatment – and we can help. Over the years the Recovery Center’s
capability to provide service has grown to include detox, residential, and
outpatient chemical dependency treatment, co-dependency treatment, aftercare,
outreach services, Employee Assistance Programming, and OWI
evaluation/education.
What is
Chemical Dependency?
The staff
at the MFRC believe that chemical dependency is a chronic, progressive, and
incurable disease, characterized by the loss of control over the use of alcohol,
prescription and illegally obtained drugs. It is a disease which, in most
cases, affects family members and friends, as well as the chemical user.
Therefore,
the MFRC has designed a treatment process which allows the chemically dependent
person and family members to learn how to live their lives without the use or
influence of chemicals.
Each level
of care carries its own level of intensity and structure. (Detox, Residential,
Intensive Outpatient, Extended Outpatient, Aftercare)
Treatment Services
The MFRC
13 bed co-ed multi-level treatment center seldom has a waiting list for
admissions. The Center has a “live” on-call counselor available for concerns,
crisis, and information available 24/7. Help begins with a phone call!
When a
client is considering admission to the Recovery Center they must undergo a
thorough assessment to determine the extent of their substance abuse/chemical
dependency problem. After the assessment, an individual course of treatment is
planned. The treatment may include detoxification, residential, one of four
levels of outpatient, or a combination of different treatment modalities over a
period of time. Each client’s treatment plan is individually developed and
reviewed by the client and treatment staff.
Staff
members include the medical director, consulting psychologist, program director,
clinical coordinator, co-dependency counselor, case/chart managers, nurse care
coordinator, assessment specialists, and unit secretary. A 24-hour nursing
service is also provided.
“Housed”
(24/7 stay) at the MFRC or “traveling” (from home base) describes two of the
basic levels of service options that are determined through
assessment/evaluation. There are various ways to be involved within these two
basic levels of service (see A thru H).
-
Acute care – inpatient:
This service is a medical emergency/urgency service and the patient would in
most cases be seen in ER and admitted to temporary detox (1 to 5 days).
-
Residential outpatient
treatment takes place daily. The length of the treatment stay is determined
by the client’s daily progress. The client is “housed” overnight at the
Recovery Center during treatment.
-
Outpatient treatment: MFRC outpatient treatment services may be
arranged Monday through Sunday – around family needs and employment.
-
Day outpatient treatment/partial hospitalization
– travel or housed may take place daily. Travel or housed status is
determined by evaluation/progress.
-
Intensive outpatient treatment is available 7 days a week (Monday
through Sunday) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Days,
times, and number of sessions is determined by an evaluation/progress. This
level of care may include 9 to 29 hours of service per week.
-
Extended outpatient treatment is set up on an individual basis 1 to
3 times per week, as needed based on the evaluation. It is also available 7
days a week. This level of care may include 1 to 8 hours of service per
week. During many of the treatment sessions, residential and outpatient
clients may work together. The sessions can include recreational therapy,
educational lectures, community group, specific group therapy, one-on-one,
and psychological therapy.
-
Continuing Care: During the treatment process the chemically dependent
person and their concerned person family member may participate together
with other recovering people. The Recovery Center continuing care process
is structured to involve the patient and the concerned person in the
continuing care groups which are made up of people who have successfully
completed their treatment program. This service is free to recent graduated
MFRC patients. Individuals needing continuing care services, but are not
recent MFRC alumni may make application and financial arrangements for
services. Continuing Care groups meet at Manning Regional Healthcare Center
on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and are facilitated by
counselors and recovering peers. Relapse Groups are available as needed.
The 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. scheduled groups are followed by support group
meetings (AA – NA – Al-Anon). The patient and the concerned person are
encouraged to participate in the continuing care for up to one year.
-
Concerned Person Program/Involvement:
The “Concerned Person” is usually the family member who is closest to the
chemically dependent person, and has been affected by the consumption and/or
use. At the Recovery Center, concerned persons who have family members in
treatment, participate in treatment through the family outpatient treatment
program. They attend sessions up to three nights each week for six weeks or
more, plus support groups. The program involves the concerned person in
educational lectures, community group, their own group therapy sessions,
one-on-one as needed, and support group.
Family
Education
MFRC hosts
an education program that explores chemical dependency, its affects on family
and friends, what happens in treatment, and how to help yourself and the
chemically dependent person. This program is open to the public and is provided
at no cost. Scheduling is based upon individual family needs and participation.
Cost
The cost
of treatment programs is usually covered by most major insurance companies, as
well as Title XIX and Medicare. Anyone wishing for more information about
coverage can contact the Business Office Manager at 712-655-2072. Note: MFRC
is not a contracted state funded provider. MFRC is a Title XIX – Medicare
(Insurance) contracted provider. The Manning Regional Healthcare Center
Business Office will confidentially check/review your treatment benefits for
substance abuse/chemical dependency services. A confidential release for a
benefit check is required. A confidential release will also be required if the
insurance is through an employer in order to verify employment and insurance
status. Approximate costs, based on the type of insurance and estimated length
of stay, will be discussed if possible, prior to admission.
Admissions
Treatment
levels are determined by evaluation. Evaluations for non-emergency or planned
admissions should be scheduled in advance. Planned admissions are Monday
through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Planned admission times are arranged through the previously scheduled
evaluation. Emergency/Crisis admissions are admitted through the Emergency
Room, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Evaluations are by appointment and can be arranged by calling 712-655-2300 or
1-800-656-6372.
