MRHC is proud to announce it has been named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for Patient Satisfaction by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). This prestigious award recognizes MRHC for its exceptional commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients throughout the community.

The NRHA Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals are selected based on a comprehensive analysis conducted by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. The analysis considers eight key performance areas, including patient perspective, quality of care, and financial performance.

Jacki Streck Named 2024 MRHC Outstanding Employee

Jacki StreckJacki Streck, an employee in the dietary department at MRHC, was recognized for her exceptional performance and received the 2024 MRHC Outstanding Employee Award on May 15th. Jacki was nominated for the award by several of her co-workers who all agreed she not only meets but exceeds the criteria for this award.

The Outstanding Employee Award recognizes an MRHC employee who consistently performs high-quality work and extra duties beyond those normally assigned, is willing to work with others and assist whenever needed, has a positive attitude, displays exceptional dependability, and creates a positive work environment. Characteristics that Jacki undeniably possesses, making her a popular nomination and an easy choice for the award.

In a nomination letter, one of Jacki’s co-workers commented, “Jacki is one of the hardest working and most dependable people I know. Another co-worker shared, “Jacki goes above and beyond to spread her positivity to staff, patients, and visitors and you can always count on her to greet you with a smile. She truly brightens the days of those she encounters.”

Some recent patient surveys have specifically called out Jacki, recognizing her exceptional performance, saying, “Jacki is the best!” and “Jacki is thoughtful and accommodated my diet.”

MRHC Patients Encouraged to Sign Up for Patient Portal

If you are a patient at MRHC, have you signed up for the Meditech MyChart patient portal?

“At MRHC, we recognize that our patients’ time is valuable,” said MRHC CEO, Shannon Black, MHA. “We encourage all our patients to sign up for the patient portal as it allows them to easily access their personal health information online wherever and whenever they want.”

Patients have access to features of the portal including requesting appointments; checking in for upcoming appointments; communicating with their provider team; and viewing visit history notes, discharge instructions, lab results, radiology reports, their health summary, allergy and medication listings, immunization records, and outstanding balances.

This system also allows patients to keep the most important people in the loop by connecting with providers and giving authorized family members access to their important health information within the online portal. If patients have been seen at MRHC since February 1, 2023, they should have received login credentials at their appointment. If you need help setting up your account, MRHC will be holding free, walk-in assistance sessions on the following dates:

Joy Blom Receives DAISY Award at MRHC

Joy Blom, RN, the director of surgical services at MRHC was recently recognized for her exceptional role as a nurse and awarded the 2024 DAISY Award.

Blom consistently delivers exceptional care that has not gone unnoticed. Numerous patients have expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the “amazing”, “excellent”, and “compassionate care” that she provides.

These testimonials, among many others, made Blom the perfect recipient of the 2024 DAISY Award, a program that honors and celebrates the skillful and compassionate care nurses provide every day. DAISY Award honorees are recognized within their department, receive an award certificate, and are publicly acknowledged. Blom was surprised with the award by her co-workers and family on Friday, May 10th.

About the DAISY Award

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the autoimmune disease, ITP, in 1999.

During his hospitalization, the Barnes family deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. More than 2,500 healthcare facilities in 15 countries and 50 states now honor extraordinary nurses with The DAISY Award.

Eligibility

All nurses who exemplify MRHC’s mission and values and demonstrate our vision daily are eligible to be nominated. DAISY Award honorees are nurses who provide compassionate and remarkable care while demonstrating clinical excellence. Anyone, including patients, patients’ family members, staff members, physicians, visitors, and volunteers, is welcome to nominate any nurse whom they believe is deserving of the award.
