chronic pain management
Multimodal Chronic Pain Management
At Manning Regional Healthcare Center, our Multimodal Chronic Pain Management Program uses a comprehensive approach that focuses on improving function, increasing independence, and helping patients better manage pain long term. The CDC recommends treating chronic pain using multiple approaches, rather than relying on medications alone. Our program combines education, therapies, movement, and supportive care tailored to each patient.
Understanding Pain
Chronic pain is a type of pain that does not improve with time. Common conditions include:
- Back pain
- Arthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Headaches
- Facial pain
- Peripheral neuropathy
Pain can negatively affect sleep, mood, work, relationships, and overall quality of life. Many people find that medications or procedures alone do not provide lasting relief. Over time, the nervous system can become more sensitive, increasing pain severity and reducing function.
Pain Science Education
Patients learn how emotional, cognitive, and social factors influence pain. Understanding how the nervous system responds to chronic pain can help reduce fear, improve coping, and support recovery.
The good news is that pain can often be managed more effectively through a combination of therapies, education, movement, and support.
Our Goals

Increase strength, flexibility, and endurance
Reduce reliance on pain medications
