Commitment to the Community - CHNA

Here at MRHC, it is important for us to determine the community health needs and concerns of the communities we serve. Identifying these needs help us to implement a plan to understand the progress in addressing these needs and identify and prioritize our healthcare initiatives for the years to come. MRHC recently worked with area providers and partners to update the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). Thank you to all who shared input regarding unmet healthcare needs. 

Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA)

 On a regular basis, Manning Regional Healthcare Center conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment and develops a strategic implementation plan.

Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNA) and implementation strategies are required of tax-exempt hospitals because of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. These assessments and strategies create an important opportunity to improve the health of communities. They ensure that hospitals have the information they need to provide benefits that meet the needs of their communities. They also provide an opportunity to improve coordination of hospital community benefits with other efforts to improve community health. By statute, the CHNAs must consider input from “persons who represent the broad interests of the community served by the hospital facility, including those with special knowledge of or expertise in public health.”

As of February 3, 2025, MRHC completed the 2025 CHNA assessment. VVV Consultants LLC, an independent healthcare consulting firm from Olathe, KS, conducted this countywide research. The goal of this assessment update was to understand progress in addressing community health needs cited in past assessment reports while collecting up-to-date community health perceptions and ideas.

The areas of concern were mental health care, suicide prevention, access to affordable and healthy foods, obesity, childcare, transportation, and senior care. These topics were chosen by members of our community and will be prioritized and addressed over the next few years.
