Tina Gehling is a licensed Respiratory Therapist with over 20 years of expertise. She holds an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from DMACC (2004), an EMT credential from the University of Iowa (2010), and a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Management from Western Governor’s University (2021).

Gehling provides specialized care four days a week, offering inpatient and ER services for individuals with respiratory issues at MRHC. She conducts home sleep studies, 6-minute walks, and pulmonary function tests for outpatients.

Her experience caters to patients dealing with asthma, COPD, emphysema, bronchitis, and other breathing disorders. She can also help individuals manage issues with shortness of breath and sleep-related problems like sleep apnea.

Physical Therapy

Lucas Schwery, DPT began offering physical therapy services at MRHC in September 2023 to address a variety of impairments including musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, balance, gait, and post-surgical impairments and injuries.

Signs and symptoms that indicate someone would benefit from physical therapy include any pain associated with the movement of a body part, frequent falls, dizziness, the inability to complete daily activities, and chronic pain.

Schwery grew up in Kimballton and attended Exira EH-K High School. He completed his undergraduate schooling at Morningside College where he worked with the athletic training staff helping provide sideline coverage for athletic events. He then graduated from Briar Cliff University from their Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

Dr. Woods, M.D., provides medical and surgical care to women regarding pregnancy, childbirth, and disorders of the reproductive system. This includes preventive care, detection of sexually transmitted diseases, Pap test screening, and family planning. The OB-GYN Clinic is available the 2nd Wednesday of every month.

Dr. Woods received his B.A. in biology from Knox College in Illinois. He then completed his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Illinois and his residency at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Dr. Woods is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.

Kendra Tiefenthaler received her LPN and RN license from Iowa Central Community College. In 2019, she decided to pursue her BSN and graduated from Capella University. She has now been a nurse for over ten years and has worked at North Central Correctional Facility, St. Anthony Home Health and Hospice, and currently works as a Clinical Coordinator in Wound Care for RestorixHealth.

She works at three hospitals regularly, including MRHC, and she fills in at two other clinics when needed.

Dr. Steven Stokesbary, M.D., FAAOS, a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, with The Center for Neurosciences, Orthopedics & Spine (CNOS), provides orthopedic services in Manning on the second and fourth Tuesday every month. He specializes in total knee and hip replacement, sports medicine, and arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Stokesbary also offers knee ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repairs, treatment for chronic and acute pain, carpal tunnel release, ulnar nerve transposition and trigger finger release.

Dr. Stokesbary, often known as “Stokes”, attained his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and doctorate degree from the University of Iowa. He spent his Residency in Orthopedics at the University of Missouri-Columbia and started his practice in Sioux City in 1998 and has been with CNOS since.

He and his wife of eight years, Kim, have four kids together. He lives a very active lifestyle with his hobbies including golf, skiing, and scuba diving.

Dr. Smith, D.O., FACOS, is a Board-Certified general surgeon. He provides a variety of surgical services every Monday in Manning.

Dr. Smith graduated with honors from the University of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines and completed his general surgery residency at Des Moines General Hospital, where he was appointed chief surgery resident from 1998 to 1999.

Dr. Smith holds membership to numerous associations including the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association, Carroll County Medical Association, and Iowa Medical Society. Dr. Smith and his wife have five children and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including snow skiing, fishing and scuba diving.

Hollie Schechinger started at MRHC as a counselor in the Recovery Center and is now a designated mental health provider offering counseling services in Manning three days a week for patients 12. In addition to providing mental health services for the general community, Schechinger will also continue working with Recovery Center inpatient clients two days a week.

A 2009 Coon Rapids-Bayard graduate, Schechinger received a social work degree from Briar Cliff University in 2013. After working at Quakerdale, she worked in the Recovery Center for almost five years before going into Home Health with Carroll Area Nursing Services. She then returned to school to get her master’s in social work with a focus in mental health and trauma from the University of Denver.

Dr. Eric Jensen, D.P.M., specializes in palliative foot care and foot and ankle surgery. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and offers a variety of podiatry services every Tuesday in Manning.

Dr. Jensen earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in 1989. In 1993, he earned his podiatry degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He did his residency in Podiatric Surgery at the J.L. Pettis VA Memorial Hospital in Loma Linda, California in 1994.

He is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Iowa Podiatric Medical Association. He is also an Examining Board Member on the Iowa Board of Podiatric Examiners.

Pain Clinic

Brian Jacobs, ARNP, CRNA, NSPM-C, from the Midwest Pain Care Clinic, provides support to the Pain Clinic at MRHC every other Wednesday.

Brian received his anesthesia training at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and completed his fellowship in advanced pain management at Texas Christian University. He is currently a PhD student and fellow in pain and associated symptoms research at the University of Iowa. Brian also provides clinical training opportunities for pain fellows from Texas Christian University, the University of South Florida, and Iowa’s Premier Pain Management externship.

His clinical interests include interventional pain management and treatment of nociplastic pain disorders. His research interests include neuroimaging in pain, biomarkers in nociplastic pain disorders, and symptoms of neurogenic inflammation.
