Clinical
MRHC is seeking a full-time lab tech for four 9-hour shifts with call requirements and a $5,000 sign-on bonus! This position requires a high school diploma and someone who is working on an Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in applied science, chemistry, or biology. Previous CMA clinical experience or Medical Laboratory Technician experience in a clinical lab is preferred.
Obtains/collects specimens for laboratory testing, including, but not limited to, blood and urine. Initials, dates, and times all collections. Performs venipunctures and finger sticks using an aseptic technique in accordance with hospital procedures. Ensures that specimen requirements are met at the time of collection and maintains specimen integrity.
Within scope of training, prepares specimens and performs laboratory analyses and quality control testing in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures. Recognizes test inconsistencies and takes appropriate corrective action. Calls critical test results to appropriate personnel according to established criteria.
Prepares test reports in an accurate, legible, and timely manner, initialing and dating own work performed. Performs preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment, documenting all instrument checks, problems, and corrective actions taken. Seeks assistance from appropriate laboratory personnel as needed to identify and/or resolve issues. Performs clerical tasks as applicable.

This position demonstrates professional, appropriate, effective and tactful written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with patient, families, medical staff, colleagues, vendors, and other departments throughout the continuum of care to promote continuity of care and services and enhance clinic image. They demonstrate positive, professional customer service in all patient, staff, and visitor contacts and utilize interpersonal skills to establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with healthcare members, patients, and families.
This position acknowledges patients’ rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations. They participate in staff development activities and orientation as requested. This person proactively acts as patient advocate, responding to and working to resolve patient concerns. Must be CPR, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, PALS Certified and responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs. This position is responsible for the operation of various office machines (i.e. fax, copier, phone, and computer). The radiology technologist takes pictures of the body while utilizing various imaging methods, which includes basic x-ray and computed tomography (CT). They are responsible for ensuring the patient’s safety during the course of the procedure. Technologists may be required to explain the procedure in layman terms to ensure a patient’s comfort. Most importantly, the ability to produce a high-quality image consistently is crucial, as this will help physicians to correctly provide diagnoses. This person performs other daily duties of the radiology department as directed and provides on-call coverage for radiology.
Educational Experience Requirements
- Associate degree from radiologic technician program required
- ARRT certified with permit to practice in Iowa
- CT experience preferred
